Product Safety and Care Policy

LayerLux Studio creates products using different 3D-printing materials, designs, components, and finishing methods. Care and safety requirements may vary by product.

Always follow product-specific instructions provided in the listing, packaging, or order documentation.

General care

Unless expressly stated otherwise:

• Clean with a soft, damp cloth;
• Do not place in a dishwasher;
• Do not place in a microwave or oven;
• Do not use harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners;
• Do not leave in a hot vehicle;
• Do not place near a stove, fireplace, radiator, heater, or other heat source;
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight;
• Do not bend, crush, or overload the product; and
• Inspect periodically for cracks, deformation, or loose components.

Discontinue use if a product becomes cracked, melted, deformed, electrically damaged, or otherwise unsafe.

Heat and fire

Many 3D-printing materials can soften, deform, melt, or burn when exposed to heat.

Unless a product is expressly identified and certified for such use:

• Keep it away from open flames;
• Do not use it with real candles;
• Do not place incense or hot ash inside it;
• Do not place hot cookware on it;
• Do not use it as an ashtray; and
• Do not place it against hot light bulbs or heating elements.

Candle holders and luminaries are for flameless, battery-operated LED lights only unless expressly stated otherwise.

Lamps

For lamps and illuminated products:

• Use only the bulb type stated in the listing or instructions;
• Use LED bulbs only;
• Do not exceed the specified maximum wattage;
• Do not use incandescent, halogen, or heat-producing bulbs;
• Keep ventilation openings unobstructed;
• Do not operate with a damaged cord, socket, plug, or switch;
• Keep indoor lamps away from water and outdoor weather;
• Unplug before changing a bulb or cleaning; and
• Keep lamps away from curtains and other flammable materials.

Stop using the lamp immediately if you notice excess heat, melting, deformation, smoke, electrical arcing, or an unusual odor.

Food and drink

Unless a product is expressly represented as food-contact suitable, it is not intended for direct food or beverage contact.

Do not use ordinary decorative 3D-printed products for:

• Food preparation;
• Long-term food storage;
• Drinking;
• Hot food or beverages;
• Dishwasher cleaning; or
• Microwave heating.

A material's raw-filament designation alone does not necessarily make the completed printed product food-safe.

Planters and vases

Unless expressly described as watertight, planters and vases may allow water to seep through layer lines or drainage openings.

Use a liner, drip tray, or removable container when placing the product on furniture or moisture-sensitive surfaces.

LayerLux Studio is not responsible for water damage caused by failure to use appropriate protection.

Do not use a vase for drinking water or food storage.

Outdoor products

Only products expressly identified as outdoor-suitable should be used outdoors.

Even outdoor-suitable materials may experience:

• Fading;
• Warping;
• Brittleness;
• Surface deterioration;
• Water intrusion; or
• Damage from wind, freezing temperatures, or prolonged sunlight.

Secure lightweight products during windy conditions.

Small parts and children

Some products contain small or detachable parts that may create choking hazards.

Unless a product is specifically marketed and certified for children:

• It is not intended for use by children;
• It should not be given to children under three;
• Children should not chew or place it in their mouths; and
• Adult supervision is recommended when children are nearby.

Packaging, listing language, age grading, warnings, testing, and certification may vary for products that are specifically intended for children.

Fidgets, clickers, spinners, and articulated products

Fidgets and articulated products may contain moving, detachable, or breakable parts.

Inspect them before each use and discontinue use if a part becomes loose, sharp, cracked, or damaged.

Do not place any component in the mouth. Keep small components away from young children and pets.

A product's description as a collectible, desk accessory, or decorative item should not be interpreted as certification under children's-product safety standards.

Magnets

If a product contains magnets:

• Keep it away from young children;
• Do not place it in the mouth;
• Discontinue use if a magnet becomes loose;
• Keep it away from medical devices and electronics where appropriate; and
• Seek immediate medical attention if a magnet is swallowed.

Structural and mechanical use

Unless expressly designed and rated for that purpose, LayerLux Studio products must not be used as:

• Safety equipment;
• Protective equipment;
• Vehicle components;
• Load-bearing hardware;
• Climbing equipment;
• Medical devices;
• Electrical safety components;
• Firearm components; or
• Components whose failure could cause serious injury or property damage.

Customer modifications

Drilling, sanding, cutting, heating, rewiring, or otherwise modifying a product may weaken it or create additional hazards.

LayerLux Studio is not responsible for damage caused by unauthorized modifications or use outside the stated purpose, to the extent permitted by law.

Reporting a safety concern

Stop using the product and contact us immediately if you believe it presents a safety risk.
