Custom Order Policy
Last updated July 19, 2026
This Custom Order Policy applies to customized, personalized, modified, and made-to-order products created by LayerLux Studio LLC.
1. How the custom-order process works
The typical custom-order process is:
- The customer submits a request;
- LayerLux Studio reviews the request;
- We contact the customer if clarification is needed;
- We provide a quote or invoice;
- A proof or specifications are provided when applicable;
- The customer approves the design and specifications;
- Payment is received;
- Production begins;
- The product undergoes a quality review; and
- The completed order is shipped or otherwise delivered.
Some steps may not apply to simple customizations.
2. Request review
Submitting a request does not guarantee acceptance.
We may decline requests that are:
- Technically impractical;
- Unsafe;
- Outside our production capabilities;
- Needed within an unavailable timeframe;
- Potentially unlawful or infringing;
- Inconsistent with a designer's commercial license; or
- Otherwise inappropriate for LayerLux Studio.
3. Quotes and payment
Quotes are based on the information available when they are prepared.
If the customer changes the dimensions, materials, quantity, design, delivery requirements, or other specifications, LayerLux Studio may issue a revised quote.
Full payment is generally required before design work or production begins unless LayerLux Studio agrees otherwise in writing.
4. Design and modeling charges
A custom project may include a separate design, modeling, resizing, conversion, repair, or setup fee.
Unless stated otherwise:
- Design charges compensate LayerLux Studio for work performed;
- Design charges are not automatically refundable if the customer later cancels;
- Payment for design work does not transfer ownership of LayerLux Studio's source files or production files; and
- Editable files, STL files, 3MF files, CAD files, or other digital production files are not included unless specifically identified in writing.
5. Proof approval
When a proof or written specification is provided, the customer must review it carefully before approval.
The customer is responsible for confirming:
- Spelling;
- Names;
- Dates;
- Measurements;
- Colors;
- Quantity;
- Orientation;
- Text and image placement;
- Opening and clearance dimensions;
- Compatibility with customer-provided objects; and
- Any other details shown or described.
Approval may be provided through the website, email, message, invoice, or another written method.
Production may begin immediately after approval and payment.
6. Measurements and fit
Customers must provide accurate measurements when requesting a product intended to fit, hold, cover, attach to, or work with another object.
Whenever practical, measurements should be provided in millimeters.
LayerLux Studio is not responsible for fit problems caused by:
- Inaccurate customer measurements;
- Measurements taken from the wrong location;
- An incomplete description;
- Unreported protrusions or clearances;
- Differences between product versions; or
- Changes made after approval.
If LayerLux Studio made the product materially different from the approved dimensions, contact us under the problem-reporting procedure below.
7. Colors and materials
Screen colors are not exact representations of filament colors.
Actual color may vary because of:
- Screen and display settings;
- Lighting conditions;
- Filament texture;
- Filament batch;
- Material availability; and
- The shape and surface of the finished product.
If exact color matching is essential, the customer should request a physical sample before approving the order. Samples and shipping may require an additional fee.
8. Normal 3D-printing characteristics
Small layer lines, seams, minor surface inconsistencies, support marks, and modest dimensional tolerances are natural parts of additive manufacturing.
These characteristics are not considered defects unless they materially interfere with the approved appearance or intended function of the product.
9. Revisions
The number of included revisions, if any, will be stated in the quote.
Additional revisions or substantial changes may result in:
- Additional design fees;
- A revised quote;
- A new production timeline; or
- Cancellation if the requested change is not feasible.
A revision requested after production begins may require the product to be restarted at the customer's expense.
We will obtain the customer's approval before charging an additional amount.
10. Customer delays
Failure to provide information, measurements, approval, or payment may delay the estimated completion date.
If a customer does not respond for 30 days, LayerLux Studio may place the request on hold or close it. Amounts paid for completed design work are not refundable.
Any treatment of payment for unfinished physical products will depend on the work completed, materials committed, and applicable law.
11. Cancellations
A custom order may generally be cancelled for a full refund before design work, material purchasing, or production begins.
After work begins:
- Completed design or setup fees are nonrefundable;
- Special-order materials may be nonrefundable;
- Completed production work may be deducted from the refund; and
- A fully completed custom product may not be refundable.
LayerLux Studio will explain any deduction and comply with applicable law.
12. Customer-provided files and intellectual property
Customers may submit only materials they own or are authorized to use.
We may decline requests involving copyrighted characters, logos, trademarks, celebrities, brand names, or proprietary designs unless the customer provides satisfactory evidence of permission or the requested use is otherwise lawful.
Acceptance of a request does not constitute a legal determination that the customer has the necessary rights.
13. Design ownership
Unless a written agreement states otherwise:
- Customer Content remains the customer's property;
- Preexisting LayerLux Studio designs remain LayerLux Studio's property;
- Third-party designs remain the property of their respective owners;
- Production methods and internal working files remain LayerLux Studio's property; and
- Payment for a physical product does not include ownership of the digital design file.
A customer seeking exclusive design rights must obtain a separate written agreement.
14. Privacy of custom projects
Custom projects are treated as private order information.
LayerLux Studio will not publicly share a customer's name, personal photographs, confidential business information, or distinctive private design without permission, except where disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to fulfill the order.
15. Reporting a problem
Inspect your order promptly after delivery.
If the product is damaged, defective, or materially different from the approved specifications, contact us within seven calendar days of delivery at hello@layerluxstudio.com.
Include:
- Your name and order number;
- A description of the problem;
- Photographs of the product;
- Photographs of the packaging if shipping damage occurred; and
- Any other reasonably requested information.
We may offer a repair, replacement, correction, store credit, partial refund, or full refund depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
Nothing in this section eliminates rights that cannot legally be waived.
